Alimak at Viaduc de Millau - the World´s Highest Bridge, France
One of the obstacles met during the construction of the new and improved highway A75 between Paris, France, and Barcelona in Spain was the Millau valley in the south of France. It is wide and deep, and introduced several problems to the building of the highway. Still this solution was to prefer compared to the other solutions examined in the initial phase during the highway project.
The passing of A75 trough the Valley of Millau required building a bridge across the valley, a bridge that in height would become unprecedented. And Alimak was asked by Eiffage TP, the main contractor of this project, to participate in the construction work with our world-leading passengerand materials hoists.
