Record Breaking Alimak Scando 650 Construction Hoist
An Alimak Scando 650 construction hoist has broken all records on a prestigious development in the City of London. The hoist is fitted with Alimak’s A3 remote monitoring system which has recorded this amazing achievement.
The hoist is 1 of 3 purchased by HTC Plant Ltd for this particular project, HTC Plant Ltd are probably the largest hoist hire company in the UK and are part of the PC Harrington Group providing hoists and tower cranes to the wider construction industry.
The record breaking hoist is the latest Alimak Scando 650I 20/50 FC model serving 15 floors at a height of 65m, with an ALC controller, C Door and a speed of 54m/min. The hoist cage was much larger than conventional hoists, being manufactured specifically with a cage of
2 m wide x 5 m long to enable
movement of cladding materials.
The records were broken during a 1 month period between 21 October 2008 and 22 November 2008 and include some amazing results such as:
• 22,180 total starts
• Travelling 286km in the month
• Was actually moving 35% of the available time (not including loading and unloading)
• Travelling 12km in one day
• Achieving over 1000 starts in one day
• Travelling on average over 10km a day
• Achieving an average of 90 starts per hour
