Alimak Hek for Ports & Shipyards

Since 1971, Alimak elevators have been used by global port authorities as access elevators for ship to shore cranes as well as RTGs and RMGs. Alimak crane elevators are installed in almost 100 countries throughout the world. Why a crane elevator?
1. Availability: Experience shows that the installation of access elevators results in more efficient maintenance and, consequently, less downtime. Additional savings are realized because tools and exchange parts are carried in the elevator car, thus eliminating waiting time. Another benefit is the reduction of breakdowns as the elevator has facilitated preventive maintenance. A leading shipping company says our elevators have reduced crane maintenance and downtime by up to 25%.
2. Productivity: Without an elevator, maintenance personnel and crane operators must climb ladders. To get to the top of an ordinary container crane takes about 15–20 minutes of hard work which does not encourage frequent maintenance and inspection. Moreover, parts and tools required for repairs and exchange have to be lifted by means of winches or similar devices – all time consuming operations. In an elevator, the ride to the top takes less than two minutes.
3. Safety: Although it is difficult to put a price tag on safety, the risks associated with ladders, especially in bad weather, are obvious. Additionally, the elevator enables speedy rescue operations.
Ship-to-shore cranes, rail mounted gantry cranes, rubber tired gantry cranes and ship unloaders are typical installations but Alimak elevators are also used on goliath cranes, drydocks, silos, warehouses and other facilities at ports and shipyards around the world.
